The Garm are a race of large humanoid creatures with gray rough leathery skin, small black beady eyes. They have no mouth, instead they are fueled by the natural Aether that can be found on most planets.

They are the first space faring specie, having barely beaten the Arakona to space by a couple hundred years. Though where the Arakona relied on hard technology to reach the stars, the Garm relied on the arcane.

Culture

To the Garm, knowledge is the most useful thing in the universe. Because its so useful they don't mind sharing the large amounts of knowledge they have acquired over their long time in space. Because of this you will find most cities will have a well funded library and school system, with even the smallest towns have a robust center for education. The Education is free, and anyone can be accepted if they work hard enough.

Generally you will find most laws benefit the common man, with the Garm Collective usually throwing their weight around to keep companies in line. Those that find themselves on the wrong side of the law of course face fines, and even Jail time. Though Garm prisons are considered pretty good by most criminals. Given a "9/10" in Criminal Monthly, though a point was lost due to the rather bland food.

Reaching the Stars

Once they reached the stars, the Garm's love for knowledge led them to reach far and wide. Exploring all the new worlds and oddities they could only envision through astral projection or scrying.

Age of Experimentation

The push to learn more lead to an initiative to expand their knowledge, this initiative was only focused on learning new things, without any oversight. This led to many amazing and useful things, but also led to many Labs being abandoned on various planets with many dangerous experiments still inside waiting to be found.

From this Age the Hu'Zark and Android would appear in the universe, the Hu'Zark original intended to be slaves to the Garm, had their rights fought for by Zi'lona during this time, leading to them having a very short time as slaves. The Androids would see a similar timeline of events. As it was clear that the machines that were popping up had a near same aptitude for learning the Garm and Hu'Zark had.

Age of Restraint

As more civilizations began reaching the stars, the Garm decided it would be a good idea to restrain their rather crazy idea. Instead focusing on helping the newly formed civilizations. Leading to the Age of Restraint. During this time they would use their weight to keep order, or atleast attempt to. Mostly keeping the Arakona in check more than anything.
